Diagnosis and Testing for Gastrointestinal Conditions

At Horii Clinic, each patient's diagnostic plan is determined individually during the initial consultation with the gastroenterologist.

Depending on your symptoms and medical needs, the doctor may recommend one or more of the following examinations and tests:

Examinations and Tests

•Abdominal ultrasound
•Upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy (gastroscopy)
•Colonoscopy, including examination of the terminal ileum when appropriate
• Capsule endoscopy
• Complete blood count (CBC)
• Iron studies
• Blood chemistry tests, including assessment of glucose and lipid metabolism
• Testing for viral hepatitis (hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E)
• Blood coagulation tests
• Tumor marker tests
• Vitamin and mineral assessment

Examinations Available by Referral

For examinations that are not performed at our clinic, we can refer patients to nearby hospitals when appropriate.

These may include:
• CT scan of the abdomen and retroperitoneal area
• CT scan to assess the density of stones and biliary sludge
• MRI of the abdomen and retroperitoneal area
• Liver FibroScan to assess the degree of liver fibrosis and steatosis
• Ultrasound-guided liver biopsy
• Non-invasive assessment of gastric acid secretion
• Genetic testing to assess the risk of cancer and metabolic disorders involving lipid, glucose, vitamin, and mineral metabolism
• Assessment of the gastrointestinal microbiota (gut microbiome)
